About us

Why the name Arangaya?

Arangaya Apps is a creative mobile application development company founded in Sri Lanka in 2009, at the very beginning of the App Store era.

Being early meant we became one of the leading developers for the Sri Lankan market. SL Radio, SL Dictionary, iSinglish and SL Paper were top-selling apps in the Sri Lankan App Store, and apps such as Grammar Police and Ask Rusty took us to users in many other countries.

The name comes from the Arangaya, the Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush: a bird found only in Sri Lanka, and an endangered one. Rare, local and still singing. That is us.
